I am so proud of 30 of our club members who join us on Sunday March 29th for a drive to the Clewiston Inn. This was the first time I can remember in years that everyone actually showed up on time. Amazing. We drove top down under the threat of rain. The skies opened up only after we were comfortably seated inside the dining room.

The Inn located in the heart of sugar cane country on the shore of Lake Okeechobee was built in 1938. It is here we decided to take part in their buffet lunch. The extensive array of foods included a salad bar, fresh fruits, pancakes, waffles, omelets made to order, chicken, sliced lamb, large ribs, fish, shrimp, pastas, cakes & drinks. Most everyone agreed the fried chicken was the best, while the rest was just o.k.

The Clewiston Inn is noted for a few things, one of them being haunted by resident ghosts. This weekend the Inn arranged to have a special Paranormal Research couple to give us a guided tour, explain the use of some of their extensive equipment, as well as demonstrate the equipment in action. They spent the previous evening documenting their findings to prove or disprove the ghost’s existence. On the first floor, many club members felt a chill on their arms (common when ghosts are present), and we all witnessed the electro magnetic spikes in certain parts of the room, where there had been deaths of residents years ago. A repeat of the spikes happened on another room upstairs on the 2nd floor. Either you believe or not. If you are a non believer, I don’t think today’s visit would have changed your mind.

In the Everglades Lounge we checked out the famous 360 degree canvas mural depicting Everglade's wildlife and scenery in 1945.

Most of us on the way home were not brave enough to drive with our tops down with the threatening skies above. Rain was not in my agenda for this trip, and the weather co-operated.

The best part of the trip for Turbo was for some reason or other, he had to go from the back of our caravan up to the front on Route 27 at a mere 120 plus miles per hour. He is still smiling. Please do not try this, & I do not recommend this for the squeamish.

Today we had a great mix of people, some who rejoined us after almost 2 years, new members, & old time regulars. I thank you for all your support, because without you there would be no club.
Hope to see you all next time around.
