Spring Drive 2009
Spring Drive
It was a chamber of commerce perfect day for a top down drive. Twenty two members were along for the day, as we drove the back roads past acres and acres of barren trees, and clear blue skies, to our first stop in Homestead at “ROBERTS, YOU ARE HERE”. What a silly name for such a great fresh fruit, produce, and petting farm. They are really most famous for their delicious fresh fruit shakes made with any combination of fresh fruits you can dream of. It is almost worth the drive for the shakes alone. The day started with our first pit stop at the Miccosukee Gaming in South Miami where we discovered they have all the free soft drinks you want, along with the cleanest rest rooms. The drive to ROBERTS was outstanding. It was fascinating seeing all the u-pickem fields, acres upon acres of trees and plant nursery’s and landscaping accessories along the way. Each car wanted to stop at a different specialty store, but that will have to be for another day. I would be midnight with all those stops before we would arrive home. On one of the busiest Sundays ever, Alabama Jacks Restaurant had our table, with a great view of the water, all set and waiting for us. I warned everyone before hand the service was not the quickest, with their small kitchen, but the food was definitely worth the wait. It seems I was correct, there was a wait for our food, and it truly was worth the wait. There was a great live band playing and singing Country Western music for our entertainment, as well a variety of birds swooping down for the handouts we were supplying. It made for a perfect setting for another perfect Miata event. Check out the photos and see for yourself… Everyone kept thanking me for a wonderful day and my great planning, but in fact it is I who want to thank all the loyal members who continually show up and support the club. It is I who appreciate you. Hope to see you all next time around.
