Seafood Festival 2010

Seafood Festival
(*See the picture show below*)

Sunday, with the threat of rain looming overhead, 19 members set out to Key Largo to take part in the 1st Annual Seafood Festival held at the Rowells Marina at mile marker 104.5. It was well worth the $5 fee to park in the lot on premises of the festival grounds and not have to scout for spots blocks away. This was a perfect place for large outdoor gatherings, and having a scenic waterfront setting added to the charm.

The food selection ranged from lobsters, stone crabs, oysters, to hamburgers and hot dogs, and everything in between. In spite of long lines at the food tents, everyone had their fill of their favorite items.
It was enjoyable to walk the rows and rows of venders who offered art in every shape and size. There was stained glass, wood carvings, stone sculptures, jewelry, unique clothing, leather goods, paintings, and much more.

Live music and singing filled the air, along with the sounds of children’s laughter enjoying the giant slide, bounce house, and other attractions to keep them amused. Everything was well organized.

Once again it was great to get together with club members no matter what the event is about. I sometimes think if we meet and never leave the parking lot, just stand around swapping stories, it would be a successful event. Come and see what you are missing.

Thanks to all who attended, and hope to see you all next time around.
